Funlola Aofiyebi-Raimi, born Abibat Oluwafunmilola Aofiyebi and known informally as FAR, is a Nigerian actress. The last of seven children, Funlola was born to a nurse/entrepreneur mother and a well traveled father. She caught the acting bug as early as 8 years old whilst participating in school plays and watching her aunt and veteran actress, Teni Aofiyebi on TV. Funlola is a doting mother to her young son, and she became FAR when she married advertising guru, Yinka Raimi and acquired his name. With over 19 yrs experience, Funlola has succeeded in carving a niche in TV, Film and on Stage Productions. She took a Theatre Arts course at Westminster College, London and a TV acting course at the prestigious Actors Studio, Buckinghamshire. She also bagged a BSc in Sociology from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. Her first shot at the big screen was in Amaka Igwe’s film – Violated – acting alongside Joke Silva, Richard Mofe Damijo, Ego Boyo and Kunle Bamtefa. The performance earned her a THEMA(The Movie Awards) best upcoming actress award nomination in 1996. The years that followed came with lead and supporting roles in movies like Keeping Faith in which she starred with Genevieve Nnaji and Bimbo Akintola and the Kunle Afolayan directed feature, Figurine. Before landing her longest running appearance on TV, in the M-net daily soap – Tinsel, where she plays the memorable villain, Brenda, Funlola participated in several Stage and TV productions. Doctors’ Quarters, The Mansion, Palace, Solitaire, Sing That Old Song For Me and The Vagina Monologues to name a few. Besides acting, Funlola also has presentation experience on TV and Radio. In 2007, she participated in a dance reality show called Celebrity Takes 2, which she won – beating 9 other Nigerian celebrities.
